Fair comment. I’d have to agree

They can determine their preferences if they aren’t so lazy as to vote above the line.

My only hope, past of course Labor losing its majority, is that any attempted Sh1t Party-Sh1t Lite Party alliance would last weeks at most before Dutton stabbed Albanese in the back, or the rest of the Libs did the same to Dutton for not stabbing Albanese.

When your left wing is your right wing and your right wing your left. Stability pact = never getting off the ground..?

It’s routine, when handing out how-to-votes for the Greens on election day, to have to explain to confused voters that THEY determine their preferences, not the candidate/party whom they put first.

Ah, that Shorten election platform! SO refeshing! But now well and truly dead and gone, like Shorten himself.

I would like more suitable alternatives in my WA area, at each level of government but specifically federal. Good independents!

Yes, and it never ceases to amaze me that people don’t realise the opposite of that is true.
A primary minor/independent vote gives your AEC $ to that candidate/party, it registers a protest vote, it shows interest in the platform of that party (environmentalism, legalising the weed, opposing the live sheep trade…), and ultimately your preference will flow to the major party you abhor less.

Except recently the independents are making an actual go of it!

If the independents were truly independents and were tough enough to tuff it out, maybe. But I remember only too well an old true independent who had to worry about his and his families lives. The Woods Royal Commission – John Hatton.
I just don’t know – things are harder to unwrap these days! No one really stands for anything anymore, not really!

*For the literal amongst us, this is caustic satire.
