Alcohol ads feature drunks holding singing along to Neil Diamond, going home to a luxury apartment and finishing off some creative project, and walking into a client meeting with this genius idea. For some reason this BS is untouchable in Australian culture, and one of its worst problems.

Me thinks they need a dose of their own (faux) ‘free market’ medicine, by being broken up when financially stressed, based on ‘free market’ asset prices, that they demand everyone follows…..

Agreed. I’ve commented that but my comment is “Awaiting approval”.

Much of that $25B should be spent in local communities.

Observation during lunchtime conversations at my place of employment is people in early to mid 30’s rarely watch tv.
(I’m guessing Dancing with the Stars is for the older generation).

It seems we lose, on average, $1,000 per person. I’d like to give out a big “Thank You!” to the person who is losing my share for me. Hang in there, buddy!

It’s a public harm. Advertising exists to sell more product. If advertising online is stopped, gambling is certain to reduce. By how much, we won’t know till we give it a go. What are governments for if they don’t put the public good first on this one?

By what I understand they won’t have anyone much to advertise gambling to in the next 10-15 years except sports viewers and there will be a ban on that.
I have noticed on YouTube that gambling ads have dropped off drastically.
The problem for commercial networks, as can clearly be seen from the data above, is that advertising revenue is about a quarter ( in real terms) of what it was in 2007.
Their model doesn’t work any more and their answer is to play over the top amounts of advertising interspersed with cheap junk shows that few want to watch.
So yesterday!
