Yes, an ill-conceived bit of window dressing.

I guess the attempt to coin the term, “coward attack” was to focus on calling the perpetrator a coward. But it also introduces an ambiguity, where the “coward” becomes the object of the “attack” (which he effectively is). Perhaps this confusion contributed to the term’s demise..?

There are some instances where it is justified, such as Down Syndrome being adopted to replace earlier terminology; but this ‘coward attack’ effort by the Tele is a prime example of meretricious nonsense, and if the phrase is never seen again, I’ll not lose any sleep.

No other sport comes close to rugby league’s percentage of ‘rotten apples’ and ‘bed eggs’. I suspect this experience has undermined its otherwise laudable ‘coward attack’ line. The next DT perpetrator might be a footy hero.

Was there a couple of offenders that the DT wanted to soft-pedal?

But on the other hand, the cynic in me asks, is it just covering the Tele’s backside for its part in the problem that it plays through the disrespectful double standards it so often applies to women in power.
