Students in Russia and China can and do get around some of the most sophisticated internet restrictions in the world. Whatever they put in place here will be a doddle to get around for savvy 14 year olds and they of course will tell all their mates. I don’t know what the solution is, probably education, but prohibition doesn’t work and never has.

The data leaks and hacks you mention are from entities that “tried to do it themselves” and failed.

Admittedly this wouldnt stop those with a valid digital identity creating an account for their kids, young siblings or indeed anyone who pays them. Though two factor authentication might slow that down significantly.

Google and Microsoft already centralise identification and permit secure sign in by third party apps without compromising the central store or exposing user data online.

Some countries are moving to centralised online identities to replace the annoying 100 points of identification required everytime you open a bank account or deal with a government department.

Estonia is seeking to make itself a global provider of verified online identities as a service.

Sure its TBD if the current “best practice” security providers will remain hack free permanently but they’re light years ahead of the average corporate or departmental effort.

Why would they? McMahon set the AFP to be the Liberal Party protection society, a role they take very seriously.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that the duopoly has been dramatically vacuuming up our data, on a scale larger than almost anywhere else on earth, without imo making a case for doing so and certainly not putting it to a vote, ever since 9/11. At least one part of the duopoly has shown they are prepared to use it against us for their own purpose of covering their own heinous acts.

Let’s not forget that they wouldn’t investigate the leaking of fake info. from Angus Taylor’s office either.
