Comments on: Federal Liberals gaffe NSW takeover https://www.crikey.com.au/2024/09/04/nsw-liberal-takeover-rob-stokes-jim-chalmers-interest-rates/ On politics, media, business, the environment and life Wed, 04 Sep 2024 13:33:43 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.4.5 By: klewso https://www.crikey.com.au/2024/09/04/nsw-liberal-takeover-rob-stokes-jim-chalmers-interest-rates/#comment-750320 Wed, 04 Sep 2024 13:33:43 +0000 https://www.crikey.com.au/?p=1173163#comment-750320 …. Prices on ‘everything’ (‘the costs of living’?) are going up faster than wages?

….. Employers have been trying to screw down wages and conditions – especially of their lower paid workers – some employers aren’t even paying the super contributions they’re supposed too (one ‘transgression’/crime the CFMEU hasn’t been caught doing)?

….. Workers on lower wages (that have to spend more on essentials?) don’t have the discretionary sending power they do in ‘good times’ – because their wages have been ‘managed’?

….. “Everyone” is hanging out for a “rate cut” – ‘to free up spending’?

……. Especially on non-existent mortgages to people who can’t afford a mortgage to buy a home – as the number of renters increase, because they can’t afford a mortgage/to buy a home?

…… And this is all ‘the government’s fault’? As sold by the business community, their sponsored Opposition mouth-pieces and media galah gallery?

…….Isn’t this the outcome they’ve been working toward – ‘best economic managers'(?) – keeping wages down, to feed the bottom line?

…. Am I missing some dots?

Mike Burgess’ role is an important one. But when he comes out and makes these vague statements, he opens himself up to being called self-serving. But worse, his statements are that vague and open to interpretation that is just fuel to the fire for people like Dutton, who will twist them to, (a) criticize Labor, and (b) attempt to enhance his own standing.
In other words, Mike Burgess should just “ferme ta bouche”.

Yep. Had the Morrison government actually tried to do something Angus Well Done Taylor may have been a real consideration for the worst. Morrison himself doesn’t hold up all that well either.

That way the remainder of the NSW populace knows precisely where to avoid them.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Australian politics is incapable of doing anything seriously worthwhile at least until both John Howard and Paul Keating are dead, and realistically probably not for another decade after that.

And blokey! Clearly the Libs always like to cling to the three word utterances – pale, stale, male on this occasion.
